ClubOps Compete Americano
A fixed schedule, fair by design

Meet everyone. Partner everyone.

Americano is a sociable doubles format where the complete rotation is decided before the first point. ClubOps Compete: Americano creates and runs that schedule, ensuring every player partners every other player in their division exactly once.

The format

The whole tournament is decided before anyone picks up a racquet.

Players score individually, but the scheduler’s job is social coverage rather than live re-ranking.

Americano is a doubles format in which every player accumulates their own points across a succession of different partners. The complete rotation is generated in advance, so players know that results will not change who they meet next.

The defining guarantee is partnership coverage. With N players in a division, each player has N − 1 games and partners every other player exactly once. ClubOps validates the roster, builds the full schedule, balances opponent exposure and converts it into playable rounds across the available courts.

For now, complete traditional coverage requires a division size of 4n or 4n + 1. A 4n + 1 division uses one rotating scheduled bye per round.

The app

The difficult schedule is generated for you. The event remains simple to run.

The interface follows the same familiar Help, Setup, Roster, Round, Table and Insights journey as the rest of ClubOps Compete apps.

Complete partnership plan

Every partnership appears exactly once in each valid division, with opponent exposure balanced as far as possible.

Roster locked at the right time

Once the schedule is generated, playing positions cannot be added or removed. Names remain editable for a manual on-the-day substitution note.

Courts become playable waves

The full match plan is arranged across the courts available without compromising partnership coverage.

Individual table

Each player receives their pair’s score and carries those points across every partnership.

Planned and played Insights

Switch between the complete schedule and results played so far, with partner and opponent matrices per division.

Local state and backups

The working tournament stays in the browser and can be exported to a JSON backup whenever required.

Americano or Mexicano?

Choose according to what matters most to your group.

Both are individual doubles formats. The difference is whether pairings optimise for complete social coverage or adapt to live performance.

Pairing Fixed rotation generated before play Rebuilt after every completed round
Optimises for Complete partnership coverage Close games around current performance
Guarantee Every player partners every other player exactly once Players are regrouped around their current scores
Feel Social, predictable and evenly shared Social at first, increasingly competitive
Best for A fairly even cohort where maximum mixing matters A cohort with a real ability spread where close games matter
Operational challenge Generating a mathematically complete doubles rotation Re-ranking and rebuilding every court correctly after each round
A fixed Americano schedule cannot react when one player is much stronger or weaker than expected. When live performance should shape the next draw, ClubOps Compete: Mexicano is the better fit.
