The flagship TEMS scheduler remembers prior sessions and uses that history to balance participation, partnerships and opponents over time.

Season-aware scheduling state
This belongs to a family of combinatorial scheduling problems that includes NP-hard cases. Unknown attendance makes the problem dynamic: each session must balance limited courts, participation equity and previous partner and opponent history. TEMS uses a novel season-aware greedy heuristic, described in a forthcoming Operational Research paper, to generate practical schedules fast enough for live club use.
Diversity-first and equity-first modes
Maximise Partnerships is diversity-first: it prioritises new partner combinations and varied opponents. Equalise Games is equity-first: it uses season history to favour attending players who are behind in cumulative games, while still protecting variety and sensible bye patterns.
